Pivotal join Cisco and Cloud Development
With the integration of Pivotal Metapod and Cloud Foundry, Cisco aims to achieve a private cloud solution with native developer experience. Cisco and Pivotal software, recently separated unit of EMC, have partnered to sell other products in the cloud. The agreement includes the alliance between Pivotal Cloud Foundry, cloud-based platform and Metapod, the supply of Cisco data centers for the cloud based on OpenStack.
The union of the capabilities of both companies aims to help partners to “build, deploy and operate cloud-native applications in a wide range, whether public or private”. Peder Ulander, vice president of units Cloud and Cisco managed services explained that “with the integration of Cisco Metapod and Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cisco aims to achieve a private cloud solution with native developer experience”
Cisco’s core business is based on selling routers and switches, but the company is working to become a stronger competitor in the business of cloud computing. With this partnership, Cisco is strengthening its relationship with EMC-Dell.
